PURPOSE:To attain sure data transmission by discriminating the presence of retransmission so as to avoid 2nd transmission of facsimile text data and missing of data on a communication error in relay communication. CONSTITUTION:On the occurrence of a communication error at transmission of data (facsimile text) from a transmitter side facsimile store and forward switching device 10, the exchange 10 sends an acknowledge signal to a receiver side facsimile store and forward exchange 13 to inquire about the necessity of retransmission. Upon the receipt of the retransmission request, the transmitter side facsimile store and forward switching device 10 sends the data. When a communication error takes places as the result of data reception by the receiver side facsimile store and forward exchange 13, the retransmission request is informed to the transmitter side facsimile store and forward switching device 10. The transmitter side facsimile store and forward switching device 10 sends data again in response to the notice of the retransmission request. |
