PURPOSE:To easily and inexpensively form an oriented film which orients molecules of liquid crystals at different pretilt angles within the same pixels by bringing a contact heating means into contact with a part of an orienting material deposited on the regions corresponding to the pixels on a glass substrate. CONSTITUTION:The orienting material 16' is formed to a film form by printing or transferring onto the glass substrate 11 formed with plural pixel electrodes 12 in a dotty array state. Projecting parts 3a aligned to the pixel arrangement of a liquid crystal panel of a hot stamp 3 heated to a prescribed temp. are brought into contact with the orienting material 16' to prebake the region of the orienting material 16'. The orienting material 16' is made into the oriented film 21 by post baking. The oriented film 21 is thereafter rubbed by a rotary brush 2, etc., by which the oriented film 21 having the first and second regions 21a, 21b for orienting the liquid crystal molecules at the different pretilt angles is formed. |
