Brickwork system using mortar bed

The brickwork system has projections (30,32) provided on a brick (2) in the region of the mortar bed (8) lying between two brick surfaces (10,12). The projection fits into a corresponding recess (26,28) in an opposite brick in the region of the mortar bed, such that the projection and the recess are bonded by the mortar. At least one projection and one recess extend respectively over the total support gap surface. The projections are nose-shaped and the recesses have a trough-like contour.
