The valve has a guide housing (25) providing a guide bore (55) for a sliding piston or rod (56), separating a first space (16) coupled to a tank terminal (T) from a second space (47) acted on by a hydraulic pressure. A free space (60) is provided between the guide housing and the piston or rod, separated from both the first and second space and coupled to the tank terminal by by-passing the first space. Pref. the free space is provided by an annular groove around the outside of the piston or rod.
