Method of vacuum insulating with open cell insulation material

After mfr. the insulation material is enclosed in a sheath and held under continuous vacuum. When finished, the insulation material fills the space between the object and its jacket and exposed there to a continuous vacuum. The outer jacket material pref. corresponds to its application and to mechanical and thermal stress and is of metal, plastics, or other gas-tight material. The composition of the gas residue in the insulation material may change the thermal conductivity.
