The rectangularly shaped packaging material has the size of a standard postal item and is produced from a single sheet (6). The sheet has a centre section (4) with side sections (9, 9') that are double folded to provide raised areas. The side sections have slots (21, 21') to receive fixing tongues (27, 27') that project from an end section (26) that is folded over. An opposite end section (37) is also folded over with retention provided by a tongue element (28) that is inserted into a slot (31). An aperture (5) is positioned for an address label.
