Digital beam former for ultrasonic diagnostic imaging device

The beam former has a number of parallel reception channels for respective ultrasonic echo signals, obtained for a number os scanning lines, each containing a memory (24-27), for receiving the corresponding digital sampling signals. Each memory is coupled to an adder (30-33), supplied with the stored signal in response to a control signal, with the adders arranged in groups assigned to respective scanning lines, each group coupled to a respective decoder. The memories and adders are controlled so that the decoders filter the received signals from the adders to provide a beam former signals, each of which is focussed along one of the scanning lines.
