A plastic box for transporting bottles is made by injection moulding in a tool (20) contg. two longitudinal inserts (22) and two end inserts (24). During the injection process, additional cavities (22a, 24a) in the tool are filled with moulding material and inserts are filled with gas to form hollow sections. When the mould is opened, handling equipment removes the pieces formed in the cavities and places them in the basic tool to form the inserts for the next moulding process.
