Single-lever operated temperature controlled water mixing valve

The single lever operated mixing valve has separate inlets (6, 7) for hot and cold water. Within the main valve block (3) is a ball valve (12) that sits against a control surface (8) and within the ball are connection ports to the inlets. The relative flow cross sectional areas can be varied by moving the ball through an arc using a lever (23) set into a cap (36) and this allows the ratio of hot and cold water to be changed to adjust the temperature. The volume delivered is varied by pressing down on the cap and this causes a spring biased poppet (26) to be displaced and so changes the outlet cross section to the delivery tube.
