Extraction of water from paper web after the fourdrinier section

To give a further water extraction action on a paper web, after it has passed through the fourdrinier section of a papermaking machine, an air stream penetrates each carrier belt at least partially and is directed against each roller where the carrier belt lies in the roller gap. The air stream transfers water trapped in the belt through the roller pressure, directly to the roller. Also claimed is an assembly where the suction zone in the outer mantle surface of the suction roller (2), defined by the suction chamber (3), extends in the direction of both roller (1, 2) rotation over the pressure applied to the paper web (5) in the roller gap.
