Flame retardant tent cloth for military use

A tent cloth or awning, esp. for military use, consists of a textile fabric (of, e.g., flame retardant yarns) coated on at least one side with a compsn. pref. comprising (by wt.) 40-80% binder, 10-40% flame retardant, 5-10% pigment and 3-10% additives. Pref. the flame retardant yarn is of modified polyvinylacetal of above 35 cN/tex strength. The coating binder is of a polyacrylate ester, polyurethane, polystyrene and/or polybutadiene and the flame retardant of a mixt. of Sb2O3 with a Br cpd. (esp. pref.) or a P cpd. Prior to and/or after application of the above coating, the fabric can be impregnated with a compsn. comprising a fluoropolymer, a fungicide and opt., in the case of pre-impregnants, a flame retardant.
