The locking system uses data and energy transfer between a key module (1) and a lock module (2), via respective induction coils (10, 20) and associated control devices (13, 21). The first induction coil is wound around the base of the key shaft, within the key housing (11), the second induction coil wound concentric to the key insertion opening within the lock cylinder (22), so that the coils lie immediately adjacent one another when the key module is inserted in the lock module.
