The running profile of a tyre has the following features, each distributed around the tyre circumference, centre profiles (3,4) of blocks (8,9), shoulder ridges (18,19), between ridges and blocks, ring grooves (10,11), first cross grooves (21,24) starting out axially from the ring grooves (10,11) cutting into the shoulder ridges (18,19) and terminating bluntly within the contact surface (20), second, outer cross grooves (22,23) in the ridges (18,19) cutting in axially from the outer edges of the contact surface (20) towards the ring grooves (10,11) and reaching into the contact surface area (20) in the ridges (18,19) between the blunt ends of the first cross grooves (21,24) and the axial position of the ring grooves (10,11).
