A radio receiver of the type including a digital store for received audio signals which are read from the store by a control or operator input and can then be played back. In the cause of traffic safety, simple operator control of the radio is provided, and therefore the received audio signals are read at least into apart (pre-store) of the store so that before the stored audio signals are overwritten the capacity of the store (8) or pre-store (V) is used for the last received audio signals.
