<p>This invention is a device (10) for attachment to two bone structures (12, 14) for pulling apart the bone structures (12, 14) to a desired degree, to allow access to the bone structures (12, 14) for diagnosis or treatment, and method of use. The device (10) has two extendable frames (16, 18) each with two sections (28, 30, 32, 34) slidably attached together and a ratcheting mechanism (36, 38, 40, 42) to hold the sections (28, 30, 32, 34) in place once pulled apart. Two handles (24, 26) are attached to the frames (16, 18) to allow a user to apply unassisted manual force directly to the frames (16, 18) to slide the sections (28, 30, 32, 34) of the frames (16, 18) relative to one another, thereby extending the frames (16, 18) and displacing the bone structures (12, 14) from each other, to the desired degree.</p> |
