Tilting of railway carriage body on curves

A combination of linkages is provided to give a rotational movement capability between the carriage body (2) and running gear (1). The linkages support the carriage body by two lemniscate-form members (15,16), creating a virtual pivot axis (27) in the body. The size of the displacement of an instantaneous rotational axis during tipping is provided by lever lengths and by the position of the joints (13,14) between an intermediate support (12), rigidly connected to the body, and the lemniscate members.
