<p>The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a drive plate adapted to mesh with a pinion gear fitted on a rotating shaft of a starter motor for starting an internal combustion engine. A ring-shaped work is formed at its inner periphery with a plurality of caulking projections (4a) and at its outer periphery with a toothed portion by a die forging processing. The caulking projections (4a) are inserted into caulking holes (46) formed in a circular plate (45), and are punch-pressed by a caulking punch (49) to be crushed, thereby securing the circular plate (45) to the inner periphery of a ring gear (41). Accordingly, a processing time can be shortened since machining and electric welding are dispensed with. <MATH></p> |
