Method of forming a moulding end

An elongated moulding (10) has an extruded length having a hollow interior defined by a base (16) and a cover (18) with at least one rib (22, figure 2) unitary with the base and extending toward the cover in supporting relationship therewith. To form an end of the moulding the base is first removed from the end portion (14) which is then placed in a mould (42) and its end is then formed by injecting the thermoplastic material therein. During injection the cover part of the end portion (14) is forced against the interior surface of the mould. Instead of injecting thermoplastics material a core (48, figure 10) can be inserted into a prepared end portion which is then placed in a mold, heated and formed.
