Honing of bores using hone which is given linear and angular movements

The arrangement consists of a rotary drive for a honing tool and a linear drive (6) which imparts a linear to-and-fro movement to the tool. The arrangement further incorporates electrodynamic vibration generators which are mounted around a central sleeve (10). A clamping unit for the workpiece is mounted on the frame of the vibration generators. The generators generate vibrations of small amplitude and high frequency. The frequency is at least one hundred times the frequency of the in-and-out linear movement.
