An ester compound showing an excellent noxious life-controlling effect represented by the formula (I), <CHEM> wherein X represents a halogen atom, a hydrogen atom, or a methyl group, and R represents an alkyl group a cycloalkyl or haloalkyl group, a controlling agent containing the same as an active ingredient and a process for producing the same.
