<p>The plug end connector connects a cladded heavy current cable (3) to an electric device. The connector has a pre-manufactured, T-shaped, first insulator (7) made of elastic material. It also has a screen electrode (21) which surrounds a cable shoe (23) and is embedded in the first insulator (7). The connector also includes a field control element (41). The field control element (41) is embedded in a pre-manufactured second insulator (35) of elastic material. The second insulator (35) surrounds a crimped cable end (11). The first insulator (7) is formed as a cold shrink fit part and is shrink fitted onto the second insulator (35). The second insulator (35) may also be a shrink fit part and may be shrink fitted on to the cable end (11).
