PURPOSE: To provide an air bag module capable of being assembled without using a fastener. CONSTITUTION: This air bag module is provided with an air bag 70 having a circular bag opening 72 and a retainer plate 52 having a circular plate opening. A peripheral hem portion 76 surrounds the bag opening 72, and a partially cutout ring 100 is stored in it. The ring 100 has a relaxed position in which the ring 100 has a diameter greater than that of the plate opening and a deformed position in which the deformed ring 100 has a diameter less than that of the plate opening so that the ring 100 and the air bag 70 are insertable through the plate opening. Upon insertion of the ring 100 through the plate opening, the ring 100 reopens to the relaxed position and is captured beneath the retainer plate 52 so that the air bag 70 is anchored to the retainer plate 52, and removal of the ring 100 back through the plate opening is prevented.
