GRADIENT MAGNETIC FLUX COIL MECHANISM AND MAGNETIC RESONANCEPICTURE DEVICE

PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging instrument with a better line form and an gradient magnetic field coil mechanism used for it. CONSTITUTION: An insert-type coil 40 is inserted in a diameter 12 of a magnetic resonance imaging instrument. The principal field magnet 10 temporarily forms a constant magnetic field in the longitudinal direction in the insert-type coil. The computer control 58 controls a radio frequency coil 44 and a gradient coil 42 to produce a magnetic resonance image sequence, and processes a received magnetic resonance signal on image display. The insert-type gradient coil has a central cylinder part with the first circumference. The second part placed toward an end of the insert-type coil on the patient side has the second circumference which is larger than the first circumference. In this method the first circumference contains the patient head and the second circumference contains the patient shoulder. The symmetry to remove tend magnetic field induced torque is that of the operation side the against the patient side end.
