PURPOSE:To eliminate an erroneous judgment caused by mixture of a noise, and enable an accurate judgment by detecting a changing degree along line segments after picture element information on a line segment designated on an image screen is smoothed, and judging it as a boundary of internal organs according to the extreme value, that is, a changing point to a monotonous decrease from a monotonous increase. CONSTITUTION:A tomographic image screen containing the heart 20 is diplayed on a surface 5A of a diaplay device 5 in an ultrasonic diagnostic device, and line segments 30A to 30E are made to be plotted. Picture element data smoothed by a smoothing circuit 12 of image data in the direction of the respective line segments 30A to 30E are inputted to a shift register 13. Next, a changing degree of these with the lapse of time is detected from inputted five brightness values by a brightness inclination operation circuit 14, and maximal values are found, and an address on a frame memory 10 of the respective maximal values is detected, and operation is performed on a line segment length in the heart among the line segments 30A to 30E according to the address, and operation is approximately performed on the volume of the heart according to the respective line segment lengths. |
