PURPOSE:To prevent a vehicle from being stolen even when an ECU is destroyed in the off-state of an ignition switch and cranking is performed by a starter in the case of providing a vehicle theft preventing device together with a backup device to the ECU for controlling at least fuel injection and ignition timing. CONSTITUTION:A rolling code retained by a second ECU 72, and a rolling code retained by a first ECU 71 are collated by a collating means 74, and an instructing means 75 instructs the first ECU 71 to continue start authorization when the rolling codes coincide with each other and to inhibit start when the rolling codes do not coincide with each other. A judging means 76 judges whether a failure is generated to the first ECU 71, a starter switch is in the off state and an Ref signal is generated. When these conditions are materialized, the operation of the first ECU 71 is backed up by a backup means 77. |
