The device comprises a spinnaker boom (1) with two holes in its outer end which leads lines (A,B) from the spinnaker corner through the boom outer end to the block at the mast foot and further to the seating well. Through the distance between the spinnaker boom outer end and the mast foot remaining constant on trimming the spinnaker the windward line (A) can be fixed and trimming of the spinnaker occurs with leeward and windward sheets. The lines are only used for holding the spinnaker windward corner in contact with the spinnaker boom outer end whilst the sheets, both leeward and windward, are used to trim the spinnaker. In fresh wind, the windward sheet is hauled to a point on the railing midships (C). During control the one line (A) is slackened and the new windward line (B) is tightened. |
