The arrangement comprises a panel (2) having an opening mechanism consisting of parts fixed to it and parts (4) fixed to the vehicle roof (11). The opening mechanism activates the panel between closed and open positions and intermediate positions. The panel has curved edges (21,22,23,24) which partially cover the opening mechanism. The panel rear edge (22) is perpendicular to the direction of vehicle movement. The opening mechanism comprises sliding parts fixed to the panel and guide rails (42) fixed to the roof in which the sliding parts run. The opening mechanism also has parts which provide a narrow opening between the roof surface and the panel rear edge. This mechanism is entirely covered by the panel and its curved edges. A deflector (5) is located in front of the panel on the vehicle roof.
