A holder and support consists of two end plates (7) between which can be fitted various support arms (1-1,2-2) which can form slide-ways for a sliding tool holder (46) and cross pieces (4,9) for holding the work piece and making the whole unit rigid. An auxiliary cross slide (22) can be provided to give a three axes movement to the tool fitted to it.
