The present invention relates to phenethanolamine derivatives of formula (I), wherein: R<1> represents an aryl group optionally substituted by one or more substituents selected from halo, hydroxy, C1-6alkoxy, C1-6alkyl, nitro, cyano, hydroxymethyl and trifluoromethyl; R<2> represents H or C1-6alkyl; R<3> represents a phenyl or heteroaryl group substituted by R<6> and R<7>; R<4> and R<5> each independently represent H or C1-6alkyl or, R<4> and R<5> together form a C3-6cycloalkyl group; R<6> represents ZCH2CO2H and R<7> represents H or ZCH2CO2H, or R<6> and R<7> together represent a group (a), wherein each Z may be the same or different and is selected from a bond, CH2, O, S or NR<9>, R<8> is H or CO2H and R<9> is H or C1-6alkyl; X represents(CH2)n where n is 1 or 2; and pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives thereof; to processes for their preparation; and their use in the treatment of conditions susceptible of amelioration by an atypical beta-adrenoceptor agonist. |
