Prodn. of Si powder comprises treating comminuted Fe alloys with a high Si content with 1-23 wt.% HCl soln. and washing and drying the residues obtained. Sepn. of the product is carried out in a heavy liq. medium with a density of 2.39-2.55 g/cm<3> or by collecting the 0.10-2.0 mm fraction from a sieve.
