The device transmits information to a person. It includes a main receiver (10,15), e.g. a mobile telephone, a European call receiver or the like. It also includes a device (16,17,18) for generating a sound-free vibration. This signals (indicates) to the called person that the main receiver (10,15) has received a signal. The device for generating the vibration is a personal receiver (16,17,18) which is separate from the main receiver (10,15) and is worn near the person's body. The main receiver (10,15) includes a transmitter which controls the personal receiver (16,17,18) against which the personal receiver (16,17,18) has a vibrator which generates mechanical vibrations which can be tracked by the person. The personal receiver may be, for example, a wrist watch, or something to be worn on the belt, etc.
