The chassis has two cross-ties on whose rearward ends a longitudinal support of a rear frame, that runs between the rear wheels, is fixed. In the region of the cross-ties, the longitudinal beams have each an offset towards the cross-tie. Each longitudinal carrier beam has an open-topped U-shaped profile. In the offset section (8) the carrier beams have the outer face of their outer shank (10) welded to the inwards profile face (11) of the respective cross-tie. Pref. in the wheel arch section the shanks have an outer welding flange for cross-tie connection.
