The heating or air conditioning unit has an air mixing region (8) connected to an outlet (12) of the heat exchanger (5), into which the side cold air channels (6,7) open. Air outlet nozzles (15-18) branch from this mixing region into the vehicle passenger compartment. The heat exchanger outlet has at least one air mixing flap (9a,b) to adjust the mixture of cold and warm air.
