Stacking packing for foodstuffs such as cakes

The stacking packing has a bottom part and cover part formed from cardboard cutouts and fitting in each other to form a stacking unit, and stackable in a column one above the other. There are tabs (5) projection upwards from the external circumference of the bottom part (3), which overlap with the stacking unit (2) above so that the tabs fit in complementary cutouts (6) of the following stacking unit. The extent of the overlap is about half the height of a stacking unit. The packing may have a hexagonal or octagonal base. The cover part (4) may have several cover tabs (4a) folding down from a fold line (4b) as spacers.
