Proteolytic polypeptide (I) contg. the HSD triad characteristic of serine proteases and the consensus sequences (LIMV)-(ST)-A-(STAG)-HC and GDSGG in the active region, typical of the trypsin family, but unable to cleave the trypsin substrate N alpha -benzoyl-DL-Arg-p-nitroanilide or the chymotrypsin substrate N-glutaryl-L-Phe-p-nitroanilide is new. Also claimed are: (1) DNA (II) encoding (I); (2) vectors contg. (II); and (3) host cells contg. (II) or these vectors.
