Apparatus for cutting foodstuffs into consumption ready slices

The apparatus comprises a supporting surface (4) for the foodstuff to be cut up and a knife (15). Adjacent to the end edge of the supporting surface is a stop plate (18) against which the foodstuff is placed. The plate extends transversely across the supporting surface, and is coupled with the upwards and downwards movable knife holder (9). The knife holder includes a long knife, and is located near the upper edge of the stop plate. The distance between the plate and the knife defines the thickness of the slices cut. This distance is adjustable. An electric motor is provided for operating the knife holder in its up and down movements.
