Clamping mechanism on machine tool

The clamping component (8) is clamped by spring force (18) in the direction increasing gripping of the workpiece or tool. It is movable in the opposite acting direction using a pneumatic, or other fluid, displacement actuator (14, 15) installed on the casing (2). A pressure pistol is fitted on the casing or on a part connected to it for operating the displacement actuator.
