An X-ray beam source (1) is provided to generate a bundle of X-ray beams (3). An image converter (5) has several adjacent aSi:H X-ray detectors (11) with a matrix arrangement of detector elements to detect X-ray beam images. A reproduction apparatus (6,7) is connected to the image converter (5) to reproduce the X-ray images. The image converter (5) is coupled to a displacement device (8) which mechanically shifts it (5) laterally relative to the X-ray source (1) in an imaging plane. At least one X-ray image is detected before the mechanical shifting and at least one image is detected afterwards. The reproduction apparatus (6,7) has a calculating circuit (10) and is formed such that it combines the overlapping images point by point in such a way that corresponding pixels of the images are added. The level of the added pixels is adapted to that of the first image.
