TACKIFIED FABRIC MATERIAL AND PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURE

A quantity of fluid resin material is rendered into a flowable state without the use of solvents. The fabric (1) is then beaded with at least one elongate bead (11) of the flowable resin, wherein at least a portion of the bead (11) remains on the surface of the fabric (1) to tackify the fabric (1) and facilitate lay-up of the beaded fabric (100) in the composite molding process. The beaded fabric (100) then is laid-up into a molding apparatus, wherein the bead (11) adheres to surfaces in the molding apparatus and assists in positioning of the beaded fabric (100) therein. A further quantity of resin is disposed or injected under pressure into the molding appparatus and into contact with the fabric (1) and contours of the mold. The resin is then cured to form the composite body.
