A device for remotely positioning a multi-position mechanism such as a motor vehicle door lock mechanism that can be placed in one of three positions, i.e. locking, unlocking and door open positions. The device consists of a shoe (10) connected to the mechanism via a flexible sheath/cable assembly (12) including a fixed tooth (14) and a retractable tooth (16), and a lever rotatable about a fixed pin (24) including a recess engageable with the tooth (14) on the shoe so that the shoe is translated into a first, locking position or a second, unlocking position, as well as a gear tooth for engaging the retractable tooth (16) to move the shoe into an unstable third position in which the door is open. |
