In situ microscope observation of water samples

The appts. for in-situ microscopic inspection of water, asan underwater microscope assembly, has an immersed housing (11) with at least one pump system (511,512) to pass a water sample in front of the microscope optics, and especially a spectral microscope optical system (301). A sample observation chamber (200) is across the optical axis (305) to hold the in-situ water sample (50) in a thin thickness layer. At the microscope side, the chamber (200) has a light permeable wall (220), pref. of a low-reflection transparent material, and especially an observation window. The inner side (121) of a wall, towards the water sample (50), is coated with a material to min. reflection and/or max. light absorption, especially a back wall. The light permeable wall (220) of the sample chamber (200) is a transparent and low-scatter material for light and at least a broad-spectrum band near the ultra-violet, visible and infra-red ranges. It is of a transparent plastics of (meth)-acrylates, carbamides or polycarbonates or of boron silicate, alkaline earth fluoride, zinc and cadmium selenide, arsenide or quartz glass.
