An electric shaver comprises a swinging arm 2 pivoted at a pivot 3 on a frame 16 and driven by an electric power source in the form of an electromagnet 1. The swinging arm is coupled to an oscillator 10 via an actuating bar 17 to cause the oscillator to reciprocate horizontally. A driving post 20 extending up from the oscillator is connected via a base member 23 to an inner blade member 6, having a plurality of blades, which is reciprocated beneath an outer blade member 7. Spring means (31, Fig. 12) between oscillator and inner blade member ensure that the inner blades are held in close contact with the outer blade member. <IMAGE>
