The system is of the type in which a bulb (1) is supported on a bulb carrier (3) which can be fixed to and removed from a back face (4) of a headlamp or signal lamp housing (5) situated in front of a chassis wall (6) of the vehicle. The wall (6) has an access opening (7) in it for the bulb carrier (3). The carrier (3) includes a bulb socket (8), a finger grip ferrule (9) with a clip (9d) and a long body (10) connecting the socket (8) and the ferrule (9). A conduit (12) interconnects the wall (6) and the lamp housing (5) and is designed to receive the body (10) and to permit passage of the bulb (1) and its socket (8) into the lamp housing (5). The conduit (12) is curved and the body (10) is flexible and the ferrule (9,9d) clips the rear end of the body (10) onto the chassis wall (6).
