The control device for the glass panel (9), hinged to the frame (2) of the rear tailgate (1) of a vehicle, is operated by a handle (13), which is fitted into an opening (14), provided in the glass panel. The handle is fitted onto the inside of the panel so that no part projects outwards from the outside surface of the glass. The handle is manufactured as a shaped body (15), in the form of a bowl, of which the opening (16) faces towards the outside of the vehicle. The height (h) of the opening in the body of the handle, decreases towards the interior of the vehicle. The body of the handle is provided with a peripheral groove (17), which fits around the edges of the opening in the glass panel.
