<p>Refuse is first fed into a shredder (1) before being processed in a device (2) to remove virtually all the batteries from the refuse so that the raw materials of the batteries can be recovered. The refuse is then fed into a mill (4) once ferrous metals have been removed using a magnetic sorting device (3), whereafter it is sorted by particle size (5) and density (6), plastics are removed (7), quick lime is added in a mixer (10), and the refuse is pressure granulated (11) and heat treated (12). The resulting fuel is biologically stable and has an adjustable calorific value that may be kept constant even when the composition of the waste feedstock varies.</p> |
