BORRELIA BURGDORFERI EXPORTED PLASMID PROTEIN A, NUCLEIC ACIDS ENCODING THEREOF, AND USES THEREOF

A polypeptide from Borrelia burgdorferi, designated exported plasmid protein A (EppA), amino acid sequence thereof, and nucleic acid sequence encoding therefor is provided. Also disclosed are an antigenic preparation of EppA, which can be used immunologically as a vaccine for Lyme borreliosis caused by this organism, and diagnostic reagents for Lyme disease. A restriction map of the gene encoding EppA is provided in the figure.
