A wood harvester has a cutting unit (10) including a pair of shears (42). At least one shear blade can be driven relative to the other between open and shearing positions. A chain saw (64) is driven parallel to the shears between a resting and sawing position. The rest position is located close to one of the shears which form a bottom guard for the saw. A spring steel cover plate (62') spaced above the saw has supports adjacent to the contours of the cover plate and facing towards one of the shear. |
