The invention relates to a parodontal treatment instrument comprised of a handle (4) and a blade (1), characterized in that the balade (1) has an active portion presenting two sectors (10, 11) provided along the blade and situated each on either side of a plane passing through the blade axis, said two sectors (10, 11) presenting different aggressivity levels so that, during the treatment when the instrument is introduced into the parodontal pocket, the more aggressive sector comes in contact with the root surface of the tooth and the other less aggressive sector comes in contact with the mucosa. Through its handle (4) the instrument is held on a hand piece which imparts a vibration motion to the instrument so that the two sectors (10, 11) can detach and remove the undesirable tartar.
