METHOD AND CIRCUIT ARRANGEMENT FOR CONTROLLING ADMISSION TO AN ATM-NETWORK

Prior art: telecommunication networks consist of subnetworks at the same, higher and lower level with gateways. External traffic of a subnetwork is restricted physically or by protocol to a value which is smaller than the internal traffic. Technical problem: in subnetworks close to the subscriber, the statistical traffic volume is not yet smoothed. Gateways are either designed for traffic peaks and, as a rule, are highly underloaded or designed for mean values and have then losses in the case of traffic peaks. Basic concept: all accesses to a subnetwork are continuously informed about the current load at a gateway leading out of this subnetwork. Example: the subscriber facilities of a DQDB system separately identify requests of time slots for external traffic.
