摘要 The present invention relates to a gum system for use in a very low calorie table syrup having an aftertaste, said gum system comprising carboxymethylcellulose gum, xanthan gum, and propylene glycol alginate gum, wherein the carboxymethylcellulose gum and xanthan gum are present in a combined amount sufficient to impart to the syrup a desired stable viscosity suitable for a table syrup, and wherein the propylene glycol alginate gum is present in an amount sufficient to substantially mask the aftertaste of the very low calorie table syrup. The present invention also relates to an artificially sweetened, very low calorie table syrup having an aftertaste.
